Arshad Nadeem, a Pakistani athlete who will compete in the javelin throw final at the Olympic Stadium on Saturday evening, is on the verge of winning a medal at the Tokyo Olympics.
Arshad, a 24-year-old athlete, is regarded as one of the most likely medalists.
Arshad, a gold medallist in the South Asian Games and a bronze medalist at the Asian Games, is one of the twelve finalists.
He is the first Pakistani athlete to reach the finals of any Olympic track and field event.

Earlier, Arshad’s throw of 85.16m had been the best in his group, propelling him into the finals and giving the national optimism of bringing home the gold medal.
In the overall group stage, he finished third behind India’s Neeraj Chopra and Germany’s Johannes Vetter, who were first and second, respectively.
He has positioned himself among the competition’s best athletes, with only Johannes Vetter (96.29m), Neeraj Chopra (88.07m), and Andrian Mardare (86.66) ahead of him.
Since 2015, Arshad has gone unbeaten, breaking his national records seven times in the last six years.
Pakistan’s most recent Olympic medal was a bronze won by the hockey team in Barcelona; prior to that, boxer Hussain Shah won an individual medal in 1988.
