
Asif Ali, Pakistan’s explosive middle-order batter, has been named the International Cricket Council’s October player of the month for his outstanding performances in the ongoing T20 World Cup. Asif was nominated for the award alongside Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan and Namibia’s David Wiese.
Asif hit two match-winning runs for Pakistan, the first against New Zealand to give Pakistan their second win of the tournament, and the second against Afghanistan to give Pakistan their third consecutive victory.

In the three innings he has played in the tournament, Asif has scored 57 runs at an astounding strike rate of 247.82.
In his first innings, the 30-year-old smashed 27 runs off 12 balls against New Zealand before blowing away Afghanistan with an exceptional knock of 25 runs off 7 deliveries. His innings against Afghanistan included four massive maximums in the 19th over, as Pakistan chased the target down with an over to spare.
Asif will be in action when Pakistan takes on Australia in the upcoming semi-final, which is set to take place in Dubai on November 11th.
