Babar has been in fantastic form over the last few years, and his skills continue to improve game after game. Pakistan’s overall team performances have been sublime since Babar was appointed captain, and the team appears well poised to become one of the top sides in international cricket.
Under the leadership of Babar Azam, Pakistan defeated India for the first time in a World Cup match and went on to become the first team to qualify for the 2021 T20 World Cup semi-finals.
Babar’s own form has improved since taking over as captain. He has been scoring heavily in all formats, and his outstanding form in T20s has been one of the highlights of his brief captaincy. The flamboyant batter made history yet again on Tuesday, scoring another half-century in Pakistan’s match against Namibia. This was Babar’s 14th 50-plus score in T20Is since taking over as captain of the national team.
No other captain has more 50-point games than Babar Azam. Previously, the record was held by Indian captain Virat Kohli, who had scored 50 or more points 13 times. Babar has also scored the most runs in his first 60 T20Is. Again, Kohli previously held the record, having scored 2,167 runs in his first 60 T20I innings. In the same number of innings, Babar has scored 2,402 runs.
