For his consistent, outstanding performance across all sorts in the recent series against South Africa, Pakistan’s Babar Azam won the ICC Men’s Player of the Month in April 2021, and was chosen by fans and the ICC polling academy as the winner in April.
As an Australian cricketer, Alyssa Healy, for her excellent consistency with the bat, was named ICC Women’s Player of the Month for April 2021.
Babar’s 82-ball 94 in South Africa’s third ODI gained 13 leading points to achieve an excellent career of 865. In the third match of a T20I series against the same opposition, he also participated 122 of the 59 balls in Pakistan’s successful chasing.
Ramiz Raja, representative of the ICC Voting Academy, commented on Azam’s performance in April
In white ball cricket the world bats in two ways. One way is to destroy attacks with muscle and strength and then it is a way for the Babar Azam to perform a batting symphony with punch, plume and flair.
On Pakistan’s limited-up South Africa tour, Babar was in supreme form. In the ODI series he scored a century and a half, leading the team to a win in the Rainbow Nation for the historic ODI and to the ICC ODI Batsmen’s rankings.
He has continued in the T20I series with a rich vein shape and won his 1st T20I Century in the 3rd T20I and led Pakistan to a 3-1 win in the T20Is. During this period, Babar was also the world’s fastest cricketer, reaching 2000 T20I runs.
