The Bangladesh Cricket Board has asked Mustafizur Rahman to play in all three formats during the West Indies visit in June (BCB).

Mustafizur, who is now playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Delhi Capitals, has yet to respond to the board’s proposal.

Since his debut in 2015, the left-arm paceman has only appeared in 14 of Bangladesh’s 39 Tests. He admitted openly that he intended to lessen his workload by selecting formats. With the injuries to pacers Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam, both of whom are doubtful to return for the West Indies Tests anytime soon, Fizz’s name resurrected ahead of a red-ball assignment.

“We’ve been thinking about it,” BCB sources said, “and we want Mustafizur to play in all three formats from the West Indies series.”

Mustafizur made his ODI debut in 2015

Mustafizur Rahman, sometimes known as ‘The Fizz,’ is a left-arm fast bowler from Bangladesh who can confuse batters with his subtle variations. In his first One-Day International (ODI) against India in 2015, he took a fifer to lead Bangladesh to a stunning victory.

Mustafizur Rahman is the only bowler to win Player of the Match in both his ODI and Test debuts in international cricket history. Rahman was a member of Bangladesh’s Under-19 team at the 2014 World Cup, where he took nine wickets in six games.

Following that, Mustafizur not only advanced to the top level of Bangladesh’s national team but also signed a deal with Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2016. The left-arm seamer stole the show in his first IPL season, taking 17 wickets in 16 games to claim the ‘Emerging Player of the Tournament accolade. He is presently playing for DC in the IPL 2022 season.
