Dont boycott mens cricket former Afghan womens chief pleads

The previous director of the women’s side has stated that international cricketers should support the Afghan men’s squad, not punish them by boycotts if the Taliban prevents the women from playing.

In a warning that sports penalties are damaging grassroots games – including women and girls, Tuba Sangar, who has fleeed to the Islamist hardline shortly after the country’s fall for Canada.

“Boycotting the male squad isn’t a good idea. They have done much in Afghanistan – in a positive sense, they have brought Afghanistan into the world,” Sangar said Tuesday.

The 28 year-old was the director of women’ s cricket for Afghanistan’s Cricket Board from 2014-2020, saying that “If we have no more male team there would be no chance for overall cricket.”
