Ramiz Raja, the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), conducted a ceremony yesterday to honour the Pakistan cricket team’s remarkable achievement in 2021.
Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, Shoaib Malik, Mohammad Rizwan, Imad Wasim, Sarfaraz Ahmed, and former head coach Saqlain Mushtaq were among the players who went.
Former all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez, who was a frequent component of Pakistan’s limited-overs establishment throughout 2021 and was also a member of Pakistan’s T20 World Cup squad in 2021, was one notable absence.
Hafeez recently declared his retirement from all forms of international cricket, claiming that his decision was purely personal. The cricketing community, on the other hand, feels he has opted to retire due to his issues with Ramiz Raja. His absence from the ceremony reignited the rumors, with the fraternity once again highlighting it on social media.
Nonetheless, the experienced all-rounder clarified the situation by stating that he is now in Karachi and will not be able to go to Lahore on short notice. He said that he only found out about the ceremony two days before it took place and that he was unable to make fast travel arrangements. He also stated that he is now preparing in Karachi for the Pakistan Super League’s upcoming seventh edition (PSL).
Hafeez will play for Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League 7 and will make his debut against Multan Sultans on January 29.
