Umar Akmal has joined with California Zalmi of the Northern California Cricket Association in the United States. On October 1, the 31-year-old departed for the United States. He announced on Twitter that he was flying to the United States for personal reasons and asked for prayers from his supporters.

The PCB imposed a three-year suspension on Umar Akmal in February of last year after he was found guilty of violating the anti-corruption code. The PCB reduced the suspension to 18 months, and the Court of Arbitration for Sports reduced it to 12 months (CAS).
Despite the fact that his suspension was reduced by half after two appeals, he was ordered to pay a fine of Rs. 4.25 million and undergo a rehabilitation programme before being allowed to return to the pitch.
Umar was reintegrated into the domestic circuit after completing his rehabilitation programme. In the ongoing National T20 Cup, however, he was not selected by either of the first XI sides.
Instead, Umar was requested to play in the Cricket Association’s T20 Tournament for a second XI team.
Before moving for California Zalmi in the United States, he scored 0 14, 7, 16, and 29 for Central Punjab Second XI. It’s unclear whether Umar will miss the full season, which begins on October 20 with the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy and ends on February 25 with the One-Day Cup.
Since his debut in 2009, Umar has played 16 Tests, 121 ODIs, and 84 T20Is for Pakistan. He has 1,690 runs at an average of 26.00 and a strike rate of 122.73 in T20Is, making him one of Pakistan’s best run scorers.
