The historic match between Lahore Qalandars and Yorkshire County in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) has been called off because of the rapid spread of COVID-19 cases around the world. On the 16th of January, a match between the two teams was scheduled to take place at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore to mark the freshly signed strategic agreement between the two countries.

A player exchange scheme between Lahore and Yorkshire is part of the strategic agreement, with players from both teams having the possibility to switch teams. According to the agreement, the relationship would begin with Haris Rauf of the Lahore Qalandars joining Yorkshire as an international star for the 2018 county season.

The player exchange will also include a scholarship scheme for talented emerging cricketers from both teams, according to the agreement.

Yorkshire was scheduled to fly to Pakistan for a four-day tour that included a match versus Lahore at Gaddafi Stadium, however, the trip has been canceled owing to unforeseen circumstances. The two teams have not said whether or not the tour would take place at a later date.

The Qalandars will compete in the upcoming seventh season of the PSL. The competition is due to begin on January 27th, and Lahore will face Multan Sultans in their first encounter on January 29th.
