After the Indian High Commission issued visas to the national team and officials, the Pakistan junior hockey squad is set to fly to India for the mega event of the world cup.

According to Secretary-General Pakistan Hockey Federation Olympian Asif Bajwa in a video posted on Pakistan Hockey Federation’s official Facebook Page on Monday, the government of Pakistan has also issued NOC to the national hockey team to participate in the tournament, which will be held in Bhubaneswar from November 24 to December 5.

He also stated that the National Junior Hockey Squad will depart for India on November 20 and that the tournament will begin on November 24 in Bhubaneswar, India.

Bajwa went on to say that the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has received more than half of the national team’s visas via courier service. “There are 16 teams competing in the event, four of which are in Pakistan’s pool, which includes Germany, Argentina, Pakistan, and Egypt,” Bajwa said.

He went on to say that two teams from the pool would qualify and that if Pakistan beats Germany, it will be the favourite to advance to the quarterfinals.

The National Junior Hockey Team did not have international match experience, but they have the ability to surprise any team in the event. He stated that the Pakistan Junior Hockey Team will travel to India to play two practise games.

He announced the match schedule, saying that the first practise match will be played against Chile on November 21 and the second against Canada on November 22, and that coverage of the practise matches will be prohibited.

Pakistan’s junior hockey team will play its first match against Germany on November 24, followed by a match against Egypt on November 27.

On November 28, the national junior hockey team will play its final pool round match against Argentina.

Asif Bajwa, Secretary-General of the Pakistan Hockey Federation, has asked the nation to pray for the national junior hockey team.
