The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and the table-topping Gujarat Titans (GT) played at the Wankhede Stadium in the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, with the red and black winning by eight wickets.
Gujarat Titans (GT) couldn’t get off to a flying start after electing to bat first. Shubman Gill left with a 1-0 lead, and the franchise only managed to score 38 runs on the powerplay. Hardik Pandya scored an unbeaten 62 off 47 balls to help his side reach 168 runs in 20 overs.
With Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis both on fire, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) got off to a rare strong start this season. Virat Kohli bounced back with a 54-ball 73, which was ably supported by Faf du Plessis’ performance at the other end, who was playing second fiddle.
Off 38 deliveries, Du Plessis scored 44 runs. Glenn Maxwell, the all-rounder, came out firing in the last push, smashing 40 runs in only 18 deliveries to lead his side to victory.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) triumphed by eight wickets, keeping their playoff chances alive.
IPL 2022 Points Table:
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is back in the driver’s seat after a good win. With 16 points from 14 league stage matches, RCB is presently fourth in the points rankings. Even after the victory, RCB does not control its destiny.
The Delhi Capitals are in fifth place in the points table and have one game left against the Mumbai Indians, who are in last place. If Delhi defeats Mumbai Indians, they will overtake RCB and qualify for the playoffs on the basis of their higher net run rate; however, if the match between MI and DC goes the other way, Delhi would be ousted from the competition.
Along with Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, and Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings have been eliminated from the playoff chase.
IPL 2022 Orange Cap:
After his stunning 44 runs from 38 deliveries, RCB captain Faf du Plessis moved up four places to fourth. De Plessis has already scored 443 runs in 14 IPL 2022 matches.
Following his spectacular 62-run innings in 47 deliveries, Gujarat captain Hardik Pandya saw minimal improvement in his rankings. With a total score of 413 in 13 matches, Pandya broke into the top ten and is presently ranked seventh.
IPL 2022 Purple Cap:
Wanindu Hasaranga of the RCB dethroned Yuzvendra Chahal from the top spot in the purple cap rankings once more. Hasaranga took one wicket against Gujarat Titans, bringing his total to 24 in 14 IPL 2022 matches.
Yuzvendra Chahal, on the other hand, has 24 IPL 2022 wickets in 13 games, but his economy rate is slightly higher than Wanindu Hasaranga’s.
