Pakistan Give India a Record Beating in T20 World Cup Clash

Pakistan defeated India by a ten-wicket margin in the opening match of the 2021 T20 World Cup. This was Pakistan’s first World Cup victory over their arch-rivals. Pakistan had previously lost all 12 matches between the two sides in the ICC Cricket World Cup and the T20 World Cup.

Pakistan’s victory was their first ten-wicket win in T20 cricket, and India’s loss was also their first ten-wicket loss in the game’s shortest format. Previously, Pakistan’s largest victory was a nine-wicket victory in terms of remaining wickets. Pakistan had achieved a nine-wicket victory four times, defeating South Africa, the West Indies, England, and Bangladesh with nine wickets in hand. Similarly, India’s largest defeat was a nine-wicket defeat.

They had also lost four matches by nine wickets, to South Africa, the West Indies, and Australia twice. Pakistan got off to a great start as left-arm pacer Shaheen Afridi dismissed Indian openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul cheaply. India did manage a slight comeback, with captain Kohli scoring a half-century and guiding India to a defendable total of 151. The Men in Green were completely outplayed by India throughout the match, with captain Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan piling on the runs. As Pakistan chased down the target with more than two overs to spare, the two batters scored brilliant half-centuries.
