
Pakistan has risen to second place in the ICC T20I team rankings following their outstanding performances in the ongoing 2021 T20 World Cup. Pakistan surpassed arch-rival India, which has had a disastrous start to its T20 World Cup campaign.

Prior to the start of the mega event, Pakistan was ranked third in the world, while India was ranked second. Pakistan began their World Cup campaign with a ten-wicket victory over India, followed by thrilling victories over New Zealand and Afghanistan, both by five wickets.
India, on the other hand, has lost its first two matches, the first by ten wickets to Pakistan and the second by eight wickets to New Zealand. Their chances of making the semi-finals are now hanging by a thread, and they will have to rely on other results to advance to the next round.
After a fantastic start to the T20 World Cup, England maintained their position as the best T20I side in the world. England has also won their first three matches in the competition, with convincing victories over defending champions West Indies, Bangladesh, and archrivals Australia. Meanwhile, Afghanistan has risen in the team rankings after winning two of their first three matches, while Bangladesh has dropped two places following a disappointing run of results in the mega event.
