For their forthcoming three-match ODI series against the West Indies, Pakistan’s national team selectors have decided to go with the strongest possible roster.

Initially, sources suggested that the selection committee would attempt to rest a few older players in order to give fresh talent an opportunity, but that plan has since been cancelled.

According to sources within the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), selectors have decided to deploy a solid squad because they believe now is not the time to experiment.

The three-match One-Day International series between the two sides is part of the ICC ODI World Cup Super League, and with World Cup qualifying on the line, no senior player will be omitted.

“At one point, we considered resting some of the top players,” the insider said, “but the majority of stakeholders felt that resting some key players would be too hazardous.”

“Because Pakistan will only play three ODIs, there is no significant risk in exposing your key players because they will have enough time to recoup before the ODIs in the Netherlands and the two-match Test series in Sri Lanka,” he added.

The squad for the West Indies series for the Men in Green is scheduled to be announced early next week. The series will be contested at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on June 8, 10, and 12.
