Details of the domestic contracts for 2022–2023 have been released by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), with significant increases in retainers across all categories.

The new contracts will be in effect from September 2022 to August 2023 and were agreed by the Board of Governors (BoG) during its 70th meeting.

The Quaid-e-Azam Trophy match cost climbed from Rs. 60,000 to Rs. 100,000 under the new rules, while the match fees for the Pakistan Cup and the National T20 increased from Rs. 40,000 to Rs. 60,000 each. The non-playing participants in the red-ball and white-ball competitions will now be compensated with Rs. 40,000 (increased by Rs. 16,000) and Rs. 20,000, respectively (up by Rs. 4,000).

White-ball Cricket Associations Challenge and CA T20 match fees have increased from Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 25,000, while the match price for the non-first-class four-day Cricket Associations Championship has increased from Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 40,000. There would be payments of Rs. 15,000 and Rs. 10,000 made to the non-playing participants in the red and white ball games, respectively. “Domestic cricket is the backbone of Pakistan cricket,” said PCB Director High-Performance Nadeem Khan in a statement. “We need to continue investing in it to make it a stronger and more attractive brand.”

“Our domestic cricket has already raised the bar and improved in quality, as recognised by our top cricketers,” he continued. This comes after picks made on the basis of merit, top-notch playing venues, first-rate logistical planning, premium broadcast, and substantial digital media coverage. I have no doubt that these new financial incentives will advance local cricket in the United States and help the PCB close the remaining gap with international cricket.

The retainers and match costs have been raised in order to encourage and incentivize cricketers to put in more effort all year long in order to maintain the necessary and expected standards of fitness and form, which serve as the foundation for keeping spots on the contract list. Additionally, the additional incentives will motivate them to choose our tournament over overseas leagues. It goes without saying that PCB domestic competitions are a route to selection for the national team,” Khan continued.

C70Rs. 170,000Rs. 5,000

Overall, as a result of the most recent raises in match fees and retainers, Category A+ and Category D players can now earn up to Rs. 6.1 million and Rs. 4.3 million, respectively. However, in order to receive these salaries, the players must continue to perform at a high level and remain physically fit enough to compete in all National T20 League, Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, and Pakistan Cup league matches.
