Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) wants to employ a psychologist at National High-Performance Center for national team players (NHPC). The vacancy on the official PCB website was posted.
Pakistan’s cricket team was widely considered to be ‘mentally weak’ in the cricketing brotherhood. Their inability to deal with pressure often results in undesirable breakdowns.
In various sports around the world, the practise of hiring a psychologist was commonly used. Many experts and cricketing journalists had previously urged PCB to employ a players’ psychologist and finally decided to hire a player from the board.
The psychologist is required to administer the psychological performance of players and to help them deal with their personal and professional problems according to the job description. The psychologist will work not only with players but also with the coaches and management of the national team.
Otherwise, after Dr. Sohail Saleem, a former CMO, resigned last month due to postponement of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), PCB also intends to hire the new Chief Medical Officer.
