Shadab Khan, captain of Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), has instructed hard-hitting batter Azam Khan to concentrate on his fitness.

In an exclusive interview with Geo News, the all-rounder justified his decision to select Azam Khan in his team, claiming that the young wicket-keeper batsman possesses all of the necessary skills.

“Azam has proven his worth, he’s delivered, and I’m confident he’ll do even better with us this time.” “We’ll focus on his fitness as well,” he added.

“I know he’s been working hard to enhance his fitness,” Shadab said of Azam. “That’s the thing he needs to accomplish because he’s incredibly talented and if he can manage his fitness, I’m confident he’ll reach the top.”

United had sold Iftekhar Ahmed to the Quetta Gladiators in order to secure Khan’s talents ahead of the league’s seventh edition’s player draught.

Shadab stated he’s happy with the lineup he’s put together for the competition.

“We’ve kept most of our core players, which is important; the new additions represent Islamabad United’s brand of cricket,” he remarked.

Asif Ali, Hassan Ali, Faheem Ashraf, Alex Hales, Paul Stirling, Mohammad Wasim Jr, and captain Shadab Khan were all retained by Islamabad United.

In the player’s draught held after the retention round, it was also able to re-select Colin Munro.

“This time, we have a good team, and I am optimistic that we will continue to play better cricket than we did last year when we couldn’t finish.” “I’m confident we’ll go one step further this time and win the PSL trophy for the third time,” Shadab remarked.

When questioned about his personal objective, Shadab stated that he wants to play a role in helping his team win the event.

“I believe I am in good shape these days and will attempt to take advantage of it as much as possible,” he stated.

In response to a query, Shadab expressed hope that the crowds in Karachi and Lahore will rally around Islamabad United.”I expect some crowd support, but no matter whatever team they cheer for, it will be Pakistan Cricket.” But, yes, I would miss playing in Rawalpindi, but owing to the COVID-19 outbreak, your options are limited,” he said.
