For a month, all six Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises will compete for the title of Pakistan’s premier T20 event. The teams will be attempting to accumulate points and climb the PSL points table in order to qualify for the PSL play-offs in the top four slots.

PSL 7 is set to be an intriguing season, as all of the PSL franchises will be looking to improve on their past seasons.

Last time around, Islamabad United, the competition’s most successful team, was the team to beat in the group stages, as they set a new record for the most points and victories in a single edition of the PSL, with eight triumphs in the group stages.

The team will aim to finish in the top four of the PSL 7 points standings once more. Lahore Qalandars, on the other side, finished last in the PSL points table the previous season and will be hoping to rebound by finishing in the top four in the PSL 7 points table. They are the only team to have finished outside of the playoffs on five occasions, and they will be determined to improve this time around.

This year’s competition will be held in two locations. The initial part of the competition will take place at National Stadium in Karachi, with the play-offs and final taking place at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

The first 15 matches of the group stage will take hold in Karachi, with the remaining 15 matches taking place in Lahore.

The race to finish in the top four slots in the PSL 2022 points table will be fierce, as the six clubs compete for the golden prize on February 27.

PSL 7 Points Table Criteria

The PSL is organized in a double round-robin style. In the group stage, each team will face off against other teams twice, with the top four teams qualifying for the play-offs. The tournament’s rules and regulations are in line with those of the International Cricket Council (ICC).

The scoring system used in the PSL 7 Points Table is identical to that used in previous seasons or in any other ICC-approved franchise T20 league around the world. After ten matches in the group stage, the teams with the most points will be ranked appropriately. The teams in the top four spots in the PSL points table to advance to the next round.

A win is worth two points, a tie is worth one, and a loss is worth zero. If the match ends in a draw after twenty overs, a super over will be used to determine the winner.
In a super over, both sides will bat for one over, with the team scoring the most runs in that over being declared the winner and receiving two points.

The following factors will be used to determine the teams’ ranking in the group stages:

At the end of the group stage, the team with the most points will take first place.
If both teams have the same number of points, the team with the higher net run rate will win.

The team with the most wins in the group stage will finish higher if the points and net run rate are equal.
If all of the above conditions are equal, the team with the fewest losses will finish higher in the standings.
If all other criteria are equal, the league position will be determined by the outcome of the head-to-head match between the two teams.
In the qualifier, the team that finishes first in the PSL points table 2022 will face the second-placed team, while the third-placed team will face the fourth-placed team in the first eliminator.

The qualifier winner advances directly to the final, while the qualifier loser will face the winner of the first eliminator in the second eliminator. In the final, the victor of the second eliminator will meet the winner of the qualification.

If a match is deadlocked in the play-offs, the winner will be decided by a super over. If the super over is likewise tied, the victor will be determined by the team that finished higher in the group stage.
