Ramiz Raja, Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), expressed his delight at Pakistan being awarded the hosting rights for the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025. Ramiz stated that hosting such a prestigious tournament is a source of great pride for the country and will help develop the game even further.
Pakistan will host a major ICC event for the first time in nearly thirty years. Pakistan last hosted an ICC event in 1996, when it hosted the ICC Cricket World Cup alongside India and Sri Lanka.
The 50-year-old stated that it will provide a great opportunity for Pakistan to demonstrate to the world that they have the necessary tools to host international cricket matches, as well as for the people of Pakistan to demonstrate how hospitable they are. According to Ramiz, the news has enthralled millions of Pakistani cricket fans, who welcome the cricketing world with open arms.
The former opener expressed gratitude to the International Cricket Council for taking a risk and awarding Pakistan the hosting rights for a major ICC event.
