Haris Sohail, Pakistan’s stylish middle-order hitter, has not played competitive cricket since Balochistan’s match against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the 2021/22 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy’s 10th match.
While there was conjecture that Haris’ expulsion from the domestic circuit was due to an ugly incident involving former Balochistan head coach Faisal Iqbal, the truth is that his exclusion is owing to an unsavory incident involving former Balochistan head coach Faisal Iqbal.
Haris and Faisal Iqbal were involved in a physical altercation during the just-completed Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, according to sources. The event was reported to the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) higher-ups, including chairman Ramiz Raja.
Faisal Iqbal has fired from his coaching role shortly after, and Haris has been barred from playing domestic cricket ever then. Haris’ status for the upcoming domestic season is still unknown, but he is expected to be allowed to return to the squad.
The 33-year-performance old’s for Pakistan has been patchy. Harris has been unable to cement his place on the national side despite being one of the most skilled batters on the tour. He has only worn Green Jersey 72 times due to a series of injuries, including a knee injury and terrible luck.
In his brief international career, the batter has demonstrated his bat skills. In one-day internationals, he has 1,685 runs at 46.80, while in Test cricket, he has 847 runs at 32.57. While his statistics merit a spot in the 50-over format, it is likely that his international career has come to an end.
