Shoaib Akhtar mulls approaching court against ‘character assassination’

Former fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar is considering legal action following a heated argument with Pakistan Television (PTV) host Dr. Nauman Niaz.

On the PTV Sports show Game On Hai, Akhtar was part of an eight-person panel that included Sir Vivian Richards, David Gower, and Sana Mir.
The awkward situation arose while the panelists were discussing Pakistan’s performance against New Zealand in the T20 World Cup.

People were outraged at Dr. Niaz for disrespecting a national hero on live television, as video clips from the segment circulated on social media.

Following a social media uproar, an inquiry committee was formed yesterday to look into the matter. From cricket fans to Pakistani celebrities, everyone backed Akhtar and demanded that Dr. Niaz apologize to the national hero.
Akhtar, on the other hand, has now refused to appear before the inquiry committee.
“The incident did not occur inside a room that appeared before the inquiry committee,” the ex-pacer, 46, told Bol News.

“The entire world witnessed the incident live [on their television screens].” “I will not appear before any investigation committee until Dr. Nauman Niaz is reinstated,” Akhtar clarified.”I am considering going to court for character assassination,” the Rawalpindi Express reported.
