Southern Punjab won their first match of the 2021 National T20 Cup by pursuing a huge 212 target against Northern in the tournament’s 20th match. This was the third-highest chase in Pakistan in T20s and the highest chase in the current season of the tournament.
Salman Ali Agha, the batter representing Southern Punjab, was chosen player of the match for his destructive knock of 68 off 40 balls. Aamer Yamin, the Southern captain, scored 41 off 21 balls to lead his team to their first win of the season. Sohaib Maqsood, Khushdil Shah, and Azam Khan also made cameo appearances to help keep the required run rate under control.

Northern Punjab’s batter Haider Ali, as well as all-rounders Mohammad Nawaz and Imad Wasim, all played outstanding innings against Southern Punjab’s bowling attack. As Northern set a massive total on the board, Haider struck another half-century, while Imad provided the momentum at the tail end of the innings with a quickfire 40 off 18 balls.
Central Punjab achieved the biggest successful run chase in T20s in Pakistan in the 2019 edition of the tournament, as they chased down a target of 223 against Northern. Central Punjab achieved the unprecedented accomplishment thanks to Ahmed Shehzad’s amazing century.Southern Punjab defeated Sindh in previous year’s T20 event to achieve Pakistan’s second-highest run chase.
