Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has suggested that Virat Kohli step down as India’s all-around captain if he wants to progress as a batter.
“I think he’s been a wonderful force for Indian cricket, but I think it’s best if he decided to retire as captain of all formats now,” Afridi told a private television channel.

“…I believe Virat should relinquish his captaincy and focus on his remaining cricket, which I believe will be plenty. He is a great batsman who can play freely without thinking about anything else. He’ll have a good time playing cricket “He stated.
Kohli has already resigned as T20 captain, and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BBCI) has appointed Rohit Sharma to take his place.
The former captain praised the BCCI for naming Sharma as the new T20 captain.
“I’ve known Rohit for a year and he’s a fantastic player with a great mentality. His most valuable asset is his ability to remain calm when necessary while also displaying aggression when necessary “Afridi stated.
Afridi asserted that Sharma possesses the mental capacity to be a strong leader, citing his success as the captain of the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League.”He is a top-level player with fantastic shot selection and the mentality to be a good leader of the players,” Afridi said.
