Acting squad coach Saqlain Mushtaq stated he is currently working on the New Zealand ODI and T20I series from September 17th to October 3rd.
He refused to comment on the sudden retirement of Misbah ul Haq and Waqar Younis while speaking to journalists, saying people have to move forward.
“It is past what happened and I don’t want to go there. PCB deals with this issue and they will deal with it,” he said.
“The next New Zealand series concentrates on me as an interim coach. That will be my first task, and I shall do my best to make this group competitive for the games by utilising my coaching experience.”

Saqlain further noted it was vital for the national team over the next two or three months. He said, though, he doesn’t have a long-term intention to continue as a trainer for now. “The short term part was offered to me and only the New Zealand series focused on me. This series is going to be a team preparation so we can attempt different combinations.”
“With the choices, I have nothing to do. My job is to use the provided players to compete on the floor” he answered a question about selection criticism.
